THE RELATIVES OF THE CHILDREN OF BULLENHUSER DAMM

It was 1979 when Ans van Staveren, aunt of the Hornemann brothers, heard of the fate of the two boys. She was the only one to survive the Holocaust. She remained in contact with the Children of Bullenhuser Damm Association until her death in 2008 at the age of 103. She never came to a commemoration in Hamburg: “As long as murderers such as these are protected, it is impossible for me to come to Hamburg.”
